Some recommendations on the picnic areas: respect the facilities installed for your comfort, leave the place as clean as you would like to find it, and as far as possible we advise you to take your waste in your bag, the garbage cans installed on the spot fill up very quickly and are not emptied every day, which regularly causes overflows unattractive for all!
My favorite picnic spots
Tables with view
The beach of Quiberville-sur-Mer
Of course, the picnic on the pebbles remains a must! And if you don’t feel like preparing your sandwiches, the Cabin on the sea front can do it for you! And if you want to play it even classier, why not order a seafood platter at Albâtre & Caux!
The Marsh of Longueil
Equipped with a picnic table, for a lunch in the heart of the marsh to the sound of the water birds, the marsh of Longueil allows a natural and peaceful break. You can also put your tablecloth on the ground in the shade of the willow tree and admire the banks of the river, while admiring the moorhens or muskrats that sometimes pass by!
The church of Dracqueville
In close proximity to the Chemin des Frênettes hiking loop, one of my favorites in the area, there are two picnic areas. The first is in front of the village hall, right across from the Musée de la Forge, and the second is right across from the charming little church in Dracqueville, right next to the Grace Stables. I love this place!
The Little +
The public garden is classified by the Ligue Protectrice des Oiseaux (LPO) as a refuge.
The public garden of Auffay
Our HQ with colleagues when we meet at the Auffay office and the lunch break is sunny! And if it falls on a Friday, we settle in after refueling at the food truck Cuisine Street at the weekly market! Labeled by the LPO for the protection of birds, this garden is a real green lung in the center of Auffay! The Thomas Pesquet space and its informative panel will put your head in the stars and a playground will entertain the little ones for a family picnic! A little further on, the Montréal del Campo area also has picnic tables on the edge of the Scie. A different world but just as conducive to a nice lunch break!
The castle of Longueville-sur-Scie
Isn’t it classy to have a picnic in a medieval castle ? Even if they are only a set of remains, the ruins of the castle of Longueville still reveal some stones and put in the medieval atmosphere at first sight. Moreover, you can imagine what this castle could have looked like in the 15th century thanks to the interpretation panel that is installed there! Three tables are at your disposal at the entrance of the site and in the enclosure of the old castle.
Bertrimont
You’re going to tell me, Bertrimont, you have to go there, and it’s true that none of our hiking loops pass through there. But on a bike ride, on the way to a sightseeing site like the farm of Bonnetôt in Tôtes for example, you will discover in Bertrimont a charming village full of flowers and arranged with care, a beautiful church flanked by an imposing seigneurial chapel, and facing the tennis court, a nice picnic area surrounded by a playground for the little ones and a petanque court for the bowlers!
Saint-Germain-d'Etables - the ponds
The Varenne valley and its ponds are part of the sublime landscapes of the territory. And to have tested these tables in the early morning for a supply of hikers, the sunrise at this place has something of magic. If the tables are reserved in priority to the fishermen of the ponds, one finds there all the same regularly a small place. And if not, it’s a good excuse to go and taste the good local food of the brewery of the same name located opposite 😉
House of hunting and nature, Belleville-en-Caux
In addition to the table located behind the contemporary church of Belleville, two picnic tables are available at the Maison de la Nature. This place which shelters the departmental federation of hunting of Seine-Maritime is also a place of visit where you will be able to see a diorama, and to discover the track of the pheasants, along our loop of excursion whose departure is at the same place.
The Hundred Acres
In front of the town hall a pleasant setting is offered to you for a picnic break before a short hike for the Montigny loop, one of our most natural loops, I refer you to Aurore’s post who had crossed some wild animals there!
And since this list is only binding on me, I’m providing a small map below with all of our picnic areas, which will allow you to locate them precisely, and I invite you to show me your favorites on Instagram with the hashtag #terroirdecaux!”
